Il derby britannico pesa molto nel bilancio Covid. Sono quasi duemila i tifosi scozzesi positivi al Sars-cov2, dopo aver assistito in particolare alla partita di Wembley contro l'Inghilterra terminata 0-0.
Secondo le stime delle autorità sanitarie locali di Public Health Scotland, due terzi dei contagiati (1.294) erano a Londra durante la partita Inghilterra-Scozia: 397 erano allo stadio Wembley, il resto ha partecipato a visioni e festeggiamenti collettivi fra strade e locali. Un centinaio aveva assistito allo stadio Hampden Park di Glasgow alle partite della Nazionale scozzese con la Croazia e la Repubblica Ceca.
